Prof. Peter Davies is an international and energy economist with over 30 years' experience in the oil and gas business, international finance and economic development. He was Chief Economist of BP for 17 years. During that time he was responsible for BP's analysis of oil and energy markets and he played a key role in the development of corporate strategy. He was also responsible for the publication and presentation of BP's flagship Statistical Review of World Energy.He is an independent economic consultant advising governments, companies and financial institutions. He is a member of the Council for Science and Technology, the UK Government’s top-level, independent advisory body on science and technology policy issues. He is an Honorary Professor at the Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law & Policy at the University of Dundee. He has previously worked as an Economist for Chase Manhattan Bank, the World Bank and the Government of Swaziland.
